Catechist Information

Virtus Training

Statistics show one in every five girls and one in every fifteen boys are victims of child sexual abuse. Attend a Protecting God’s Children (Virtus) awareness session and learn how to recognize and stop child sexual abusers. This is a class every parent should take and is required for all those who work with our or around children in the parish. Many seminars are offered throughout the area. Pre-registration is required. For sessions locations, availability, and registration, go to www.richmonddiocese.org. Click on training session availability under the Virtus on the right side of the screen.

All volunteers who work with our children and youth are required by diocesan policy to attend one Virtus session and keep current in training bulletins.

Please enroll online at www.virtus.org

Pathways

Who Should Attend Pathways?

All parish catechists in our diocese are required to attend this one-day, instructor-led, interactive program of prayer, learning and reflection. This training is for all who hand on the faith to adults, youth and children in our parishes.

Additional information and how to register for Pathways training is found here.

If you have any questions before your register, please contact Michele Whiteside at 804-622-5114 at the Diocese of Richmond office.

Bishop Knestout encourages anyone aware of sexual abuse of minors on the part of clergy or staff of our diocese to notify civil authorities,
call the Attorney General’s Clergy Abuse Hotline at 1-833-454-9064, and reach out to the Diocesan Victim Assistance at 1-877-887-9603.
