Sick & Home-bound Ministry
The Commission of an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion (EMHCs) who brings the Blessed Sacrament to the sick or home-bound is to care for the faithful who are ill or infirm and through illness or infirmity unable to take their accustomed place in the Eucharistic community. In bringing communion to them, the Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion represents Christ and manifests faith and charity on behalf of the whole community toward those who cannot be present at the Eucharist. For the sick the reception of communion is not only a privilege but also a sign of support and concern shown by the Christian community for its members who are ill.
Before bringing Holy Communion to the sick and home-bound, the Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion must be trained and then commissioned by the Parish Priest.
If you feel called to this ministry or you know of a parishioner who cannot attend Mass but would like to receive Holy Communion, please contact Deacon Mark or Cathy Mueller or the parish office.
