JUSTICE & PEACE

MISSION STATEMENT
The Justice and Peace Ministry at St. Joan of Arc is established to fulfill the Church’s social mission of love, justice, and peace by responding in a concrete way to societal and individual human needs.

VISION STATEMENT
To help us answer our baptismal call, we are reinforced and challenged by the celebration of the sacraments and the proclamation of the word of God as we reach out in service to those in need; defend the life, dignity and rights of all people; and work to change the policies, structures and systems that perpetuate injustice.

Homes for Our Troops

Many, many thanks to all who gave so generously in support of our Lenten giving project, “Homes for Our Troops”.  Your response to this program, a project that provides new homes and/or materials to refurbish existing homes for our injured servicemen and women, enabled us to contribute $5,236.13 to that cause.  Please remember, this is an ongoing need, and if you wish to have more information about how you may help, their website is www.homesforourtroops.org.

On January 22nd, we marked the anniversary of the Roe vs. Wade decision which legalized abortions in the United States.  Although there have been some small victories in the Supreme Court, we have a long way to go before we restore legal protection for unborn human beings.  Each of us wonders what can one person do to end this horrible period in our country’s history?  We can pray!

Starting today, our parish is participating in a Spiritual Adoption program.  You are being asked to ‘spiritually adopt’ an unborn baby and his/her parents for the next nine months.  Spiritual adoption entails making a personal commitment to pray daily for parents contemplating abortion; that they will carry their child to term so that he/she can experience the fullness of life—a life that our Heavenly Father gave him or her.

Please join us in the Commons and sign a pledge committing yourself or your family to pray for this one baby and his/her parents.  Your prayers will help the unborn baby in danger of being aborted and can help the woman and man contemplating abortion to choose life over death.  Please share the love of life given to you by God and join us in the Spiritual Adoption program!
